Show Report: Sentower Park - CSI
Show Report: Sentower Park - CSI

We had an enjoyable trip to Sentower Park last week with 5 of our up and coming young horses. Having spent the last 6 months back in the UK producing the horses over the winter months it was nice to get a gauge on their progress.

5yo Thor van de Vlasbloemhoeve impressed with placings each day, clear on the first 2 days picking up a 5th and 3rd place respectively. And just showed a little inexperience changing rings for the final day, but finished the course well to pick up eventual 10th place.
6yos Nevis Field & Loma de Reve LH posted very solid rounds in the large Ashford Arena each day including a 7th place on day 1. An unfortunate fence down around a tough Grand Prix course kept them both out of the jump off but we are excited for the rest of the year with them.
And finally 7yos Malibu RAG & Mowgli C really stepped up jumping 2/3 clears in their 1m30-1m35 classes also picking up 2 placings over the weekend. An unlucky fault at the end of their testing 7yo final also kept them both out of the jump off this time but we feel a lot of experience was gained for them.

Great to have been joined by our friend Carolyn Curcio from Chiron Stables this week too, with her two horses gaining valuable experience for the rest of the year as well.

We are grateful to be supplied by this TOP quality shavings company. We love using Jenkinson’s shavings for our horses, at home or away we can be certain our horses are bedded on the best quality shavings. We can be confident that their health isn’t compromised by unwanted dust particles entering their systems and that they are comfortable and dry in their stables.

Combined with ComfortStall rubber matting our horses can’t get enough of their beauty sleep!

Horse & Hound report : Addington Winter Classic 🏆
Horse & Hound report : Addington Winter Classic 🏆

By Sarah Radford -
“UP TO SPEED - The Blue Chip qualifiers were dominated by Zoe & Michael Potter with a pair of greys - one stallion and one mare - bought out of the same online auction as five year olds.
Zoe took the first win on the AES approved seven year old stallion Mowgli C (Hermantico x Charisma) in a fiercely competitive Blue Chip Dynamic B&C qualifier where a little over a second separated the fastest six riders.
‘This was his first time really doing two-round competitions and he seemed to love it,’ said Zoe, who took the horse abroad with her several times last year.
‘There’s been a lot of work with him since we got him to put it all together. He’s always had good balance but his power restricted him, as he’s always doing a lot behind as his body didn’t know how to put up with it all. It feels like he’s getting up to speed for his age now, and hopefully we’ll aim him at some 1.40ms and then Lanaken this summer.’
It’s been a while since Zoe jumped the British circuit, spending the bulk of her time competing on the continent, but after selling some of her older horses, she has a younger string to focus on this year, making travelling less viable.
‘It’s nice to have Addington back and great to not have to drive 12 hours,’ she said. ‘All the jump off classes have had great courses - all credit to Ben Townley and his team.
He was great at moving fences and creating places where people had to choose a line, or could take a stride out or get in a bigger rhythm, depending on the horses’ ability. It was nice to have those sort of challenges.’”

“EVENTING HELPED WITH HER BRAVERY - Michael Potter jumped a deceptively quick, flowing round from early draw on the seven year old Bubalu VDL mare Malibu RAG, to initially take a six second lead in the Blue Chip Karma performance qualifier. By close of play, only Molly Heaps (Out of the Blue II) had managed to edge within four seconds of his time.
This rangey, 17hh mare took some time to mature, so started her career in BE80 and BE90 before switching to jumping. Foxhunter second rounds, talent seekers and grade C are all possible aims for her this year.
‘She’s got a very big stride and a lot of blood,’ said Michael, who took back the ride from wife Zoe recently. ‘The eventing helped her with her bravery, she picks the fences up and looks to go.’”
